FAIR-TRADE FOR CHARITY

This year a group of students from different Year groups worked along side Mrs Issifu to raise £750, through selling Fairtrade products at break and lunchtime, for two charities: Afrikids and Concern Worldwide.

On Friday 3 July Catford High held its annual Year 9 Business and Enterprise Fair.  It was the first one held in our new building and the school corridors and outside areas looked great.

For the past few weeks, Year 9 students have been planning their market stalls in their form groups for the Summer fair.

Mrs Le Good divided students into teams; each team worked out a business plan for their stall, each student took a business role for the planning and the delivery of the event.  A huge banner and bunting marked the occasion, and a cameraman captured the afternoon's activities.

In February, a group of Year 10 Business Studies students took part in a “Speak Out Challenge” and learned about techniques of public speaking.

Students had the chance to speak and learn how to think quickly and find out how to prepare a speech and deliver it.  At the end of the workshop we had the opportunity to participate in a group competition and give our “Speak Out” speech.

On Friday 6 March, Catford High School held a special Fairtrade sale to celebrate Ghana’s 52nd year of Independence. Most students joined the celebration by buying their fairtrade products.
