The Genesis Project is based here at Catford High School and is just one of the external agencies currently work with our students.

The Genesis Project is part of the Children's Society and works with Primary and secondary schools to develop and promote the inclusion and transition of all young people in mainstream education.  We implement stratagies that create opportunities for students to improve attendance, attainment, make friends, resolve conflicts, raise their confidence and self-esteem, get involved in school and community initiatives, raise their aspirations and to support them to make appropriate life choices giving them a sense of belonging and purpose.

To achieve this we provide a wide range of programmes ans activities, such as child-to-child peer montoring, one-to-one counselling, group work around behaviour, anger management, identity, conflict resolution, confidence and self-esteem.

The project uses a wide variety of child friendly methods when working with students, such as:

  • Worksheets and Questionnaires
  • Drama
  • Storytelling
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Photography & Video
  • Games
  • Music

Two of our Students: Silvana in Year 8 and John in Year 9, have been working with the project here at Catford High and have starred in a video as a way of saying Thank-you to Ecclesiastical Insurance for raising £500,000 for The Children's Society.
